Music

As I tweeted this morning, the released economic data was just average enough to allow the market to do whatever it wanted. And today it obviously wanted to take a day off. Fine with me. Let’s just chill a little then, shall we? After all we haven’t done that in a while. Here’s a very smooth, totally work-safe song from Robert Miles; probably my favorite song by him.

Let’s see what the tide brings in tomorrow.

I apologize for the lack of updates recently. The past few days I’ve been very busy and didn’t have much time other than for quick Tweets during the day.

After this enormously stressful week, I decided to skip the usual chilly Friday night song. Instead I’ll go with a very uplifting, epic piece from the PC Sci-Fi shooter “Prey”. I think in times like these, when panic and fear runs wild among even the most battle hardened investors, it’s necessary to put yourself in the mood for the final showdown with an appropriate tune. Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you “Strengthened Resolve”:

And once again I have to post the music update on Saturday because of time constraints.  But I hope I can make up for it by posting a really exceptionally well done piece today: “Iguazu” from Gustavo Santaolalla. Anybody who has watched “Deadwood” on DVD will recognize that this is the song from the title menu. It also appeared on “The Insider”.

Anybody who wonders as to why I mix an investment blog with certain music, be assured that there is method to my madness. I will go more into detail later on. For now, enjoy this musical masterpiece:

Oops, I didn’t have time last night to update my Friday Night Lights chill-out music section. Well, I guess one can relax just as good on Saturday.

Here is one of my favorite songs by music maestro Ulrich Schnauss. You’ve probably never heard his name, but if you watched the Superbowl 2008 commercials you did hear one of his songs during one of the GM commercials. Check out “Blumenthal”:

palm-tree Finally another weekend is upon us. And boy, it didn’t come soon enough. What a terrible week it has been. Almost every day there was more carnage in the markets, particular the financial sector. Will it ever end?

As a serene investor we have to acknowledge the fact that we don’t know. But neither does anyone else. Historically these bad times did end eventually, and I happen to think that it will be the same with this crisis. Nothing about our current problems strikes me as particular unsolvable. We just have to keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best.

A good way to wind down in such stressful times is to listen to chill-out music. Close your eyes, let your mind wander and visualize a better tomorrow. No harm in that, is there, ay? And to help you relax I’ve included a very nice song from my favorite German act “Schiller” . Enjoy:

I dedicate this song to Mr. John Thain. He had a hard day today. Leave him alone.
